I had a chiropractic appointment this morning. I mentioned the bruised feeling after last week’s adjustment and he wasn’t sure why it was sore after. If he’d had to try a couple of times to get it to go back in, then it would be obvious, but that wasn’t the case. So I guess we don’t know and we’ll see what happens after this adjustment, while hoping it doesn’t hurt again this week.

This would’ve been a no-shopping day, but I wanted some fruit so I made a quick stop at Price Chopper while I was downtown and got in a short walk (one lap) around the park. (And another shortie later with the puppers.) I also got Chinese for lunch.

I did a load of laundry, as well as the usual amount of hand-washing dishes and scooping of kitty litter, paid some bills online, and placed an online order (and naturally forgot one of the main things I’d wanted to get). I grilled baby back ribs for Pip’s supper. It’s not my thing, so I had the fruit I purchased.

I started the next Murderbot story and watched some HGTV programs. I typed in ~2,500 words on my [community profile] intoabar fic and got it edited and posted!

I think I very nearly allowed myself to be scammed by someone trying to get into my computer. I caught on (eventually) and noped out. I got a bunch of flashing error messages with a message that was super loud and everything was locked up and I couldn’t turn down the volume or close out of anything. It told me to NOT turn off my computer or I’d lose data and TO call the number, which I stupidly did. You know what eventually worked? Turning off my computer. Be careful out there, folks!

Temps started out at 47.8(F) and reached 80.4. There was more sun, which was nice.

This is the original idea I had for my prompt, but there was just enough time between me coming up with and me writing it that the story went from completely dark to just kind of dark and really sad, kind of? I hope you enjoy it? *g*

What I Plan to Read Next: One of the library books I already have out, hopefully.

Book 33 of 2025: A Fountain Filled with Blood (Clare Fergusson/Russ Van Alstyne Mysteries) (Julia Spencer-Fleming)

Book 34 of 2025: Rogue Protocol (The Murderbot Diaries) (Martha Wells)

*flails* This story was so good!! spoilers )

I was so tempted to start the next story immediately, but I'm holding off, if only because I currently only have access to the next two stories and then I have to get them from the library. (I already have the final two books on request, so hopefully it won't be a long wait.) I'm giving this story five hearts.

♥♥♥♥♥

Book 35 of 2025: Now May You Weep (A Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James Mystery) (Deborah Crombie)

Good book! I especially liked that Gemma and Hazel visited Scotland. spoilers )

I really enjoyed this book and already have the next on order. I'm giving it five hearts.

Book 36 of 2025: The Hippopotamus Pool (An Amelia Peabody Mystery) (Elizabeth Peters)

This book was so good. Soooo good! It made me smile a lot. spoilers )

I can't believe it's been so long since I've read one of these books; I'll have to remedy that by requesting another. I'm giving this one five hearts.

I hit Price Chopper and the Feed Bag (which was closed yesterday) while I was downtown and got in a short walk around the park. I also went on a short walk at home with the dogs for the first time in over 8 weeks! (My legs are very tired after even two short walks (totaling .50 miles). I should’ve done some of the strengthening exercises I learned in PT (lying down, not standing) while I wasn’t able to go on walks.)

The McD’s app glitched, so I couldn’t use my usual coupon. They ended up just charging me for my hot tea and giving me my sandwich and hashbrown for free. *g* (NGL, there are definitely some perks to being well known and polite, though usually it’s just really good service and people smiling and acting happy to see you.)

I watched the current ep (season finale, how did this sneak up on me?!!) of The Last of Us and an HGTV program, and read some more. I also posted a new fic! AND I added ~1,000 words to my [community profile] intoabar fic, bringing it to a close. I just need to type it in now.

I did a load of laundry. I also did the usual amount of hand-washing dishes and scooped kitty litter. I did a ham steak for supper, with mashed potatoes and peas, which is my go-to with ham.

Temps started out at 40.1(F) and reached 80.8. It warmed up pretty early in the morning (I had to change into shorts and a t-shirt when I got home) and clouded up a bit in the afternoon, though we didn’t get any rain.

Happy (belated) Memorial Day! My deepest thanks to all who served.

I hit Walmart while I was downtown and got in a walk around the park. Yes, you read that right! Just one lap, so a short one. I’m really out of walking shape after 8 weeks of zero walking and weeks before that of only doing a limited number of walks due to cold/snow and my foot hurting.

(Saturday I wore sneakers out of the house (instead of the walking shoe on one foot). I’m still wearing the walking shoes at home because I don’t normally leave the sneakers on, and the slippers I’d wear don’t offer much support. I expect I’ll stop doing that after Friday’s final follow-up appointment with the surgeon. Maybe.)

I hit Stewart’s (for milk) on the way home. I did three loads of laundry (including bed sheets, so also stripped and remade the bed). I did the usual amount of hand-washing dishes, as well as a load in the dishwasher, and scooped kitty litter. And I did mow the lawn! While I didn’t need the scarf and gloves, I did need the sweatshirt.

I watched some HGTV programs (I have a backlog of House Hunters International) and read some more. (Another group of shows I like to watch are the heavy duty tow shows on TWC (Highway Thru Hell, Heavy Rescue: 401, and the new Rocky Mountain Wreckers. I like to have them on as background noise when I’m playing games or writing, and I can glance up to watch as much of it as I want. I record them because they don’t air at convenient times.)

I grilled steak for Pip’s supper. (I had Cheerios. o_O)

Temps started out at 48.7(F) and reached 73.2. We had sun most of the day, but there was a chill breeze. We got surprise rain storms around 5pm that lasted several hours, then the sun came out again.

I have rewatched the next few MSW episodes and I wanted to share some thoughts with you. The eps in question are: 2.07 A Lady in the Lake, 2.08 Dead Heat, 2.09 Jessica Behind Bars. With bonus comments on the fourth book in the series!

What are your thoughts on these eps? And the bonus book?
spikedluv: (summer: sunflowers by candi)
Sunday is generally one of my least busy days because I don’t go downtown. I did get two loads of laundry done. One of what I call ‘dog sheets’ (that cover the furniture) and the other ‘dog towels’ (used to protect furniture and dry the dogs off when it’s wet outside – as you can imagine, they’re currently getting very wet). I usually don’t mention the number of times a day I handwash dishes (it’s more than four) and the daily scooping of kitty litter, but I’m mentioning it now.

We finished off the BBQ chicken quarters for lunch and I did pork chops in the oven for supper.

I finally watched the current ep of The Last of Us (just in time for the next ep to air tonight) and some HGTV programs, did some more reading, and held my daily telephone conversation with my mom.

I noticed yesterday (but thought it was a one-off) and again today that I’ve been having ‘sour burps’, as I did with the Ozempic. This is the first time I’ve noticed any digestive issues with the Trulicity. I hope it doesn’t continue.

Temps started out at 48.7(F) and reached 65.4. There was a teensy bit of sun, but also a breeze, so it was chilly outside. I’m going to have to mow the lawn tomorrow, and I really hope that it feels warmer otherwise I’m going to need a scarf and gloves in addition to my sweatshirt.

Thanks to [personal profile] turps, I finally worked up the courage to watch 2.06. There were tears, but it wasn't quite as bad as I was fearing. spoilers )
spikedluv: (summer: sunflowers by candi)
I hit the Pharmacy and the Bakery while I was downtown yesterday, then the library on the way home. (For the second day in a row I forgot to hit the bank drive-thru. *head desk*)

I did two loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, and changed kitty litter. I made Gus's potatoes to go with a surprise delivery of BBQ chicken quarters.

I had supper planned, but Pip’s friend dropped off BBQ chicken quarters. It was a surprise to both of us, though it shouldn’t have been to Pip because he’s the one who made the arrangements for his friend to pick them up. *head desk* On top of which, we were already planning to get BBQ chicken on Monday for Memorial Day (the school sells it as a fundraiser), which I guess we won’t be doing now. We got six quarters, though Pip delivered two of them to his parents. Still, we’re not gonna need more BBQ chicken.

For fun stuff I watched the current ep of Murderbot and a couple of HGTV programs, and did some reading (both fanfic and in a published book). I also managed to write ~800 words of fic! It’s been so long. It felt wonderful. I took another nap. Seriously, this weather is killing me. Lastly, my daily telephone conversation with mom.

Temps started out at 46.7(F) and reached 63.3. It rained on and off all day, but the sun actually made an appearance! It was one of those days where you had a bit of sun, then more rain, then sun, then rain . . .

For my own reference, I still have a slight 'bruise' pain from the adjustment, but I now also have fun 'muscle pull' pain in an adjacent area. Not a surprise if I was walking differently to compensate.

(This is a test of the Emergency Alert System daily posting.)

I hit Walmart and Price Chopper while I was downtown yesterday. (The Walmart stop was to get a different wrist brace to try as the one I purchased previously I think would work better while I’m actually using my laptop rather than sleeping.) I hit Stewart’s (for gas and milk) and the library (to return a book) on the way home.

I did two loads of laundry, a load in the dishwasher, and paid a bill online. I baked chicken for the dogs' meals and made corned beef for supper. (It was awful. The corn beef tasted odd – enough that Pip was okay with me tossing the leftovers because he didn’t want to eat any more of it – and even the boiled potatoes went funky. The potato came off the skin and turned to mush, basically. I have no idea what happened.

Fun stuff! I watched the current ep of Leverage: Redemption and some recorded HGTV programs, took a nap (I’m blaming the weather for how many naps I’ve had to take lately), and read some fanfic. I also talked to my mom on the phone before my shower. (We generally talk every night, just telling each other about our days, no matter how little we did or how boring they were. *g*)

Temps started out at 42.3(F) and reached 53.8. It rained all day, though it was mostly drizzles and sprinkles. Still enough to make it impossible to do anything. Plus the overcast sky is soooo depressing.

Will today be better? As the Magic-8 Ball says, Don't count on it.

ETA: It was my niece L's birthday! She turned 35.

Last Friday: I hit Price Chopper while I was downtown. I did three loads of laundry and changed kitty litter. I watched current eps of 9-1-1 and Leverage: Redemption, and read more in a book.
